Dutch (b.1994) is an artist who lives and works in Los Angeles, Painting highly stylized and expressive imagery of of the silly and literal. Recording memories and ideas through his personal lens, it is almost journalistic in approach, Dutch uses painting as a way to process experiences of both traumatic and tender in nature. He was born in Virginia and spent college in Nashville where he eventually dropped out. This southern boy was bound for the big city, making a brief stop in Baltimore before arriving at Penn Station with nothing more than his bicycle and backpack. After several winters in New York City and firmly establishing his studio practice, Dutch could feel the icicles forming in his mustache. Needing to thaw, he could see sunny California in his mind, packed up his life and drove straight out to Los Angeles where you can find him today.
